Thanks for putting this together, Greg. Your lists are always something to look forward to. I don't know whether to be bummed that I'm so out of touch with the latest indie/hip/in-the-know artists that most of the ones you listed are unfamiliar to me, or excited that I have all this new music to explore. I think I'm going to go with excited. Props on Neko Case, by the way. A student of mine introduced me to her (music, not the live person, just in case you were confused) back when she came out with Blacklisted, and that lush, powerhouse voice kind of knocked me off my feet. Haven't heard her latest yet, so am looking forward to that.

As always, Stump, you put together an exquisite list! (By the way, you're an excellent writer.)

I was just recently turned on to Matt and Kim, and I definitely like what I hear.

I need to check out Lift to Experience. That cover made me laugh enough that my roommate asked what was so funny.

My two album picks, probably because I love M. Ward more than any musician in the whole world: Monsters of Folk and Hold Time.

I've heard of precisely 3 of the 10 artists on here.

I'm so out of touch with cool music...

The high school version of me would beat the crap out of the 25 year old version of me. Well, no, the high school version would just say condescending things about the 25 year old version. I was always too skinny to beat anyone up.

Game. Set. Match.

How can I argue with such transparent truth-iness?

(BTW: Love the intentional (?) misspelling of Godard...though Kieslowski is more of our ilk's J-LG)

I love you too kid, with a depth this world cannot measure...

I agree that Veteran's Day by itself is no excuse to whine about receiving a street sweeping ticket. But one must admit that once you start with the proposition that you're going to extract by force $47 from some poor chap for parking in front of his own house, he'll use any excuse to wail and moan about it.

That guy seems a bit pathetic to me.

There are plenty of people who put themselves in harm's way for the good of others, but they're not looking for some sort of extra recognition beyond their paycheck and satisfaction with a job well done.

I actually can't stand most of the soldiers I've met. I'm sure there are many amazing people who've chosen a career in the military, but most of the people I've known have been either desperate for a job and don't have many marketable skills or looking for the gov't to pay for their schooling, neither of which seem particularly noble to me. Perhaps that is an unfair characterization based on anecdotal evidence...but that's my experience.

And while this guy seems to think that soldiers are the ones "contributing to our nation's democracy," most of the soldiers I've known are the LEAST open-minded people I've known...which does seem to be a vital component of democracy. Street sweeping laws are part of our democracy too, you whiner.

Typical elitist bourgeoisie attitude from you two. This is what us common men think is addicting. We love listening to it over and over while we peruse "Going Rogue" and contemplate our next trip to WalMart to buy a weapon of some sort. I'm sure as you watch your Goddard collection and listen to Sufjan that the great ghetto game of basketball is nowhere near your thoughts, but just know this... just know this - I still love you both.

Man, that Allen Ivertson is such a cocky S.O.Bitch...lucky thing for him that he's such a good...player of, um, whatever sport that he plays.

Couldn't actually make it all the way through the "video" though, so...

[Big Stamp]: NOT ADDICTING!
